Really! Today was our first ultrasound. I’ve been spotting on and off and CNM and I thought it would be a good idea to get a look inside. Of course, we’ll have to wait for the radiologist to tell us how good the placenta and other stuff look, but M and I got to see and hear B’s heartbeat!!! It’s regular and strong and may be one of the neatest things I’ve ever heard.
We got a few ultrasound pics on a CD to take home, but none of them are at all recognizable as a baby, so I won’t be foisting them on anyone. Maybe on the next ultrasound B will be big enough to look like a tiny human.
I can’t tell you how relieved I am. I was so terrified that something was wrong… I guess it’s pretty common to feel that way before your first ultrasound.
According to the tech, we’re officially 6 weeks and 4 days in. That puts the due date at March 3rd, 2010. Thank god I’ll have my 3rd trimester in winter!!!
Morning sickness is kicking in more strongly and has fast become all-day-sickness. Well, I don’t want to paint an exaggerated picture. I haven’t puked yet, just get queasy sometimes. It’s uncomfortable, but I know other people who’ve had it a lot worse.
I still get tired pretty easily, and OH THE PEEING. We’re talking getting up at least 4 times a night to pee. Already. Ah well, all for a good cause!
Tomorrow we’re on a plane to take a vacation (going to see some friends celebrate their marriage). It’s a really early flight, so I’m hoping I’ll actually sleep on the plane instead of sitting and getting attacks of the queasies (blogger’s spell check doesn’t like the word “queasies” – what do they know??).
Now when we visit I can tell people with tangible proof that we are, indeed, really and truly bakin’ something in the oven. 🙂
