two surgeries later

The good news is that Deb has no head trauma, no spinal trauma. She has one cracked rib, and a shattered ankle that has been lovingly pinned back together by a team of crack orthopoedic surgeons at Standford.

The bad news is that Russell has two broken arms, a broken leg, and more significantly, the lung punctures. But like Deb, he has no head or spine trauma.

While their injuries are painful and will take lots of time to mend, we’re all so grateful that were not dealing with something much worse.

I had my own foot surgery today. It went exceedingly well. I’m home, elevated, and iced. I almost fell down only once coming up the stairs on crutches. πŸ˜›

So many friends have been so helpful to Deb and to me. It’s a tremendous thing to have such a wonderful support network.

I’m going to help myself to some vicodin now and be lazy.
